‘Tian Bao’ (天宝) is a 2025 Chinese historical drama directed by Liu Jin and She Ye.
Inspired by true events, the film tells the story of a young Tibetan monk who encounters the Red Army and, after helping them cross some treacherous terrain, subsequently decides to join their ranks. The cast includes Tsering Dondrup, Wu Jian, Zhuo Yina Mu, Rong Erjia, Bai Wei, and Sun Shuaidong.
Synopsis: Tian Bao (Tibetan name: Sanggyai Yexe) is a Tibetan monk who encounters the Red Army and thus changes the fate of his life. He assists them with crossing the vast grassland and goes on to become one of the first ethnic Tibetans to embrace communism and join Mao Zedong’s army.
