All in all, another quality Sammo production that deserves a wider audience.

You’d expect a film with Sammo in would have something special in the action department, but even this is very average and certainly not up to his usual quality.

When the story steps up a gear and begins to blend in various antagonists, ‘The Gold Hunters’ becomes a joy to behold.

With all characters underwritten it seems churlish to criticise performances, but eighties Asian singing sensation Tam is a charisma vacuum and not even the legendary Lin can convince in her thankless damp squib of a role.

The film is littered with great fights, and sees Yukari at her lethal best stealing the show in the lengthy final reel.

This film is a true classic, outdoing other period pieces ‘Drunken Master’ and ‘Once Upon a Time in China’. Go get it!

In truth, this is not a great movie, with nothing new added to the age old “separated brothers” story and some bad special effects.

As with the rest of the series, the comedy in ‘Twinkle Twinkle Lucky Stars’ may not appeal to everyone but there’s certainly enough action on display to entertain any fan of Hong Kong cinema.

This is an above par HK action comedy and would please all fans of the genre – especially fans of Sammo like myself.

‘Winners And Sinners’ may disappoint viewers if they’re expecting to see a Jackie Chan film, but if you appreciate the talents of any of the main actors involved then you are definitely in for a treat.

Ultimately lacking in great cinematography or even much of a plot, the name of the game is to excite the audience in as many ways possible.
