Blu-ray release: ‘Android Kikaider 01’

Discotek Media are bringing the 1973-1974 Japanese tokusatsu television series ‘Android Kikaider 01’ (キカイダー01) to US Blu-ray on November 25, 2025.

Directed by Yasutada Nagano, the series follows an android as he protects Japan from evil groups vying for a boy with a deadly robot’s blueprints. The cast includes Shunsuke Ikeda, Daisuke Ban, Etsuko Shihomi, Yoshihide Goto, and Kazuyo Sumita.

Synopsis: The world is thrust into peril when the villainous Hakaider emerges from the scrapheap with an army built in his own image! His first target? Akira, a young amnesiac who harbors a powerful secret! In response, a powerful new android emerges from his stone slumber—Kikaider 01! Programmed to protect Akira, this solar-powered hero finds himself on the run while fighting off Hakaider’s deadly duplicates! However, the mechanical maniac is just one of many shadowy foes lingering over the horizon…
