‘Can’t Cry With Your Face’ (君の顔では泣けない) is a 2025 Japanese drama written and directed by Yuichiro Sakashita.

Based on a novel by Kanata Kimijima, the film follows two friends who swap bodies after a pool accident and navigate life’s challenges for 15 years while seeking a way to switch back. The cast includes Kyoko Yoshine, Kaito Takahashi, Motoki Nakazawa, Airi Nishikawa, and Takeshi Naoshi.

Synopsis: In the summer of their first high school year, Riku Sakahira and Manami Mizumura fell into a pool and swapped bodies overnight, with Riku admitting, “I’m glad it was you,” and Manami echoing the sentiment. Believing they’d switch back, they kept it secret, but while Manami thrived as “Riku,” he floundered as “Manami,” wrestling with doubts as years slipped by—until, at 30, she confides, “I think I’ve found a way to reverse it.” [© Far East Films]

‘Can’t Cry With Your Face’ opens across Japan on November 14, 2025.
