Blu-ray & DVD release: ‘Old Fox’

Deltamac are bringing the 2023 Taiwanese drama ‘Old Fox’ (老狐狸) to Taiwanese Blu-ray and DVD on May 10, 2024.
Directed by Hsiao Ya-Chuan, the film follows a young boy who befriends his landlord and tells the story of Taiwan’s rapidly changing society of the late 1980s. The cast includes Bai Run-Yin, Liu Kuan-Ting, Akio Chen, Ban Tie-Hsiang, Chang Tsai-Hsing, and Cres Chuang.
Synopsis: In 1989, eleven-year-old Liao Jie (Bai Run-Yin) and his father Liao Tailai (Liu Kuan-Ting) slowly saved money, thinking that they could buy a house in three years. However, housing prices had risen and in an instant, their money had become insufficient, and the frustrated Liao Jie realized the reality of poverty. Compared with his father, the landlord (Akio Chen), who is known as the old fox, seems to be more able to give him guidance in life. The old fox taught Liao the world’s many social laws, which his father did not teach him. What Liao Jie learned from the old fox made him hurt him but on the other hand, he is like his own father, with the trait of empathy for others and this trait makes him not become another old fox after all.
