Blu-ray release: ‘Typhoon Club’

Third Window Films are bringing the 1985 Japanese drama ‘Typhoon Club’ (台風クラブ) to UK Blu-ray on November 27, 2023.

Directed by Shinji Somai, the film takes place in the five-day period before, during and after a ferocious, seemingly liberating typhoon, which several students endure while marooned in their school gymnasium. The cast includes Yuichi Mikami, Youki Kudoh, Tomokazu Miura, Yuka Onishi, Yuriko Fuchizaki, and Shingo Tsurumi.

Synopsis: Offering a caustic immersion into the lives of disaffected junior high students on the cusp of adulthood, the film takes place over the five-day period before, during, and after a ferocious, seemingly-liberating typhoon, which six of the students endure while marooned in their school.
