Second season of ‘Attack on Titan’ premieres in Spring 2017

At the “Shingeki Matsuri” event last Sunday, the makers of the ‘Attack on Titan’ anime revealed that the second season will premiere in spring 2017. They also unveiled a new visual (see below) and confirmed that the original voice actors would be returning.

‘Attack on Titan’ is based on a manga written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama. It is set in a world where humanity lives in cities surrounded by enormous walls; a defense against the Titans, gigantic humanoids that eat humans seemingly without reason. The story from the first season centres around Eren Yeager, his adopted sister Mikasa Ackerman and childhood friend Armin Arlert, who join the military to fight the Titans after their home town is invaded.

The first season ran for 25 episodes and aired from April to September in 2013. It was streamed by both Funimation and Crunchyroll, and released on home video in 2014 (available now from Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk). Two of the spinoff manga — ‘Attack on Titan: No Regrets’ and ‘Attack on Titan: Junior High’ — also received their own anime adaptations.
