‘Father Of The Milky Way Railroad’ (銀河鉄道の父) is a 2023 Japanese drama directed by Izuru Narushima.

Based on the novel ‘Ginga Tetsudo no Chichi’ by Yoshinobu Kadoi, the film revolves around the first son of a pawnbroker who declines to enter the family business as he wants to forge his own path. The cast includes Koji Yakusho, Masaki Suda, Nana Mori, Maki Sakai, and Yudai Toyoda.

Synopsis: As the eldest son, Kenji Miyazawa (Masaki Suda) was in line to succeed his doting father, Masajiro (Koji Yakusho), as a pawnbroker, but declined as he wanted to walk his own path. Masajiro tries to be a strict father but ends up being supportive of his son’s choices.  From agriculture, jewellery-making, and religion, Kenji has tried it all.
