‘Silence of Smoke’ (我爸没说的那件事) is a 2023 Chinese drama directed by Yojiro Takita.

The film revolves around the rift that develops between a father and son after the father refuses to reveal the secret recipe used in the family business. The cast includes Han Geng, Zhang Guoli, Xue Haojing, Xu Zhimo, and Yojiro Takita.

Synopsis: The Liu family operates a century-old shop called Tongshunxiang, which has inherited the unique ice crystal cake-making process for generations. However, the father, Liu Tingshen (Zhang Guoli), is unwilling to pass on the secret recipe to his son, Liu Jiansan (Han Geng), which has caused a rift between the pair. Jiansan angrily chooses to leave home to forge his own career, but many years later he returns after he learns that his father is seriously ill.  It is then that Jiansan finally learns the family secret along with the real reason that his father chose to withhold it… [© Far East Films]
