Anime Update #17

The main cast and a teaser visual (above) have been unveiled for the upcoming anime adaptation of Aneko Yusagi’s ‘The Rising of The Shield Hero’. Premiering in September, the story follows an otaku who suddenly finds himself transported to a parallel universe where he is one of four heroes equipped with legendary weapons. The voice cast will include Kaito Ishikawa, Asami Seto, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, Makoto Takahashi, and Yoshitaka Yamaya.

• The second season of the the popular ‘One-Punch Man’ anime will be released in April 2019. Based on the manga written by ONE and illustrated by Yusuke Murata, the show centres around an everyday man who decides to become a hero and discovers that he is able to win every fight with just one punch. All of the main cast members are due to return, with the addition of Hikaru Midorikawa as the character Garou.

• Seven new character posters have been released for the upcoming ‘Dragon Ball Super: Broly’ film. Opening in Japan on December 14, the film is set after the climax of the Tournament of Power and will provide previously unknown details about the Saiyans and Frieza. Original ‘Dragon Ball’ creator Akira Toriyama is writing the script and designing the characters, while Tatsuya Nagamine is directing.

• Aniplex have announced that the third season of ‘Sword Art Online’ will begin airing in October 2018. Going under the title of ‘Sword Art Online: Alicization’, the series is being directed by Manabu Ono and will cover the entirety of the “Alicization Arc”. Yoshitsugu Matsuoka returns as Kirito and Haruka Tomatsu is back as Asuna. New cast members include Ai Kayano as Alice and Nobunaga Shimazaki as Eugeo.

• The official twitter for the anime adaptation of Gakuto Mikumo’s ‘Strike The Blood’ recently released a new key visual for the upcoming third OVA. Simply titled ‘Strike The Blood III’, the season is being directed by Hideyo Yamamoto and will cover the conclusion of the “Holy War” (Seisen) arc.

• A new PV has been released for ‘Release the Spyce’, an upcoming original TV anime about a group of high school girls who secretly moonlight as spies for a private intelligence agency. The series is directed by You Satou and will begin airing in Japan on October 06, 2018.
