Officer Sing Sing (Chow) is called in when a man is murdered with an ice pick during sexual intercourse. By an uncanny coincidence the man looks identical to Sing so the decision is made to send him in as an undercover. In the same day, he finds himself with a beautiful wife (Anita Mui), an incompetent sidekick (Natalis Chan) and one very unhappy girlfriend (Cheung Man). All this and somehow he still has to try and solve the case!

'Fight Back To School 3' has to be the poorest of the series, lacking real continuity from the other films. No attempt is made to connect it to its predecessors and the whole film suffers with a general lack of direction. Subsequently, it came as no surprise to me to learn that Wong Jing took over the reigns for (and scripted) this film as all the signs are there; the teeth-grindingly irritating comedy, cheap gambling scenes and attempted cash-in on a successful movie/s.

Without director Gordon Chan's influence or sidekick Ng Man Tat, Chow finds himself in a comedy that has very little going for it besides the stars themselves. There is nothing wrong with the acting talent involved as both Mui and Chan are established stars in their own rights but, with a bad script and even worse comedy routines, nobody would be able to save it.
This is one for the die-hard Stephen Chow fans or (god forbid) Wong Jing enthusiasts only. |
