Blu-ray release: ‘Apartment Wife: Affair in the Afternoon’

88 Films are bringing the 1971 Japanese erotic drama ‘Apartment Wife: Affair in the Afternoon’ (団地妻 昼下りの情事) to UK Blu-ray on November 25, 2024.

Directed by Shogoro Nishimura, the film revolves around a working-class housewife who is sexually unsatisfied by her husband and seeks fulfilment through extramarital relationships. The cast includes Kazuko Shirakawa, Tatsuya Hamaguchi, Makiko Tsunoda, Soichiro Maeno, and Yoko Mita.

Synopsis: Ritsuko (Kazuko Shirakawa) is a working-class housewife who is sexually unsatisfied by her husband. She decides to seek fulfilment through extramarital relationships. When her affairs are discovered by a female brothel owner, she blackmails Ritsuko into working in her stable of prostitutes.
