Mondo Macabro are bringing the 1973 Japanese erotic action drama ‘Bohachi Bushido: Code of the Forgotten Eight’ (ポルノ時代劇 忘八武士道) to US Blu-ray on July 8, 2025.
Directed by Teruo Ishii, the film follows a ronin who is rescued by the Bohachi clan and enlisted to kill clients of tea-house prostitutes who are stealing their business. The cast includes Tetsuro Tamba, Goro Ibuki, Yuriko Hishimi, Tatsuo Endo, Shoki Fukae, and Takuzo Kawatani.
Synopsis: Shiro is a master swordsman known as “The Assassin”. Weary of the world of samurai honour and samurai death, he attempts suicide in the middle of a huge swordfight by leaping into a fast-flowing river. He is saved by the Bohachi clan, a gang of vicious pimps who have forsaken all honour and whose cynicism outruns even his own. But ultimately, he tires even of their nihilistic worldview, leading to a final showdown in the snow where he takes on a small army of brutal killers.
