
Blu-ray & 4K UHD release: ‘The Hidden Fortress’

BFI are bringing the 1958 Japanese period adventure drama ‘The Hidden Fortress’ (隠し砦の三悪人) to UK Blu-ray and 4K UHD on August 11, 2025.
Directed by Akira Kurosawa, the film tells the story of two peasants who agree to escort a man and a woman across enemy lines in return for gold without knowing that he is a general and the woman is a princess. The cast includes Toshiro Mifune, Minoru Chiaki, Kamatari Fujiwara, Susumu Fujita, Takashi Shimura, and Misa Uehara.
Synopsis: In feudal Japan, during a bloody war between clans, two cowardly and greedy peasants, soldiers of a defeated army, stumble upon a mysterious man who guides them to a fortress hidden in the mountains.
