Bruce Lee-inspired TV series coming to Cinemax
By Phil Mills | Aug 30, 2016
Cinemax has given a pilot order for ‘Warrior’, a new television crime drama based on original material written by Bruce Lee.
Set in San Francisco’s Chinatown in the aftermath of the Civil War, ‘Warrior’ tells the story of a young martial arts prodigy, newly arrived from China, who finds himself caught up in the bloody Chinatown Tong wars.
‘Warrior’ will be executive produced by ‘Fast & Furious’ director Justin Lin, with the possibility that he may also direct. Lin has reportedly been working hard to get the series made since 2013, after his company partnered up with Lee’s daughter, Shannon.
Bruce Lee apparently spent many years working on the concept, but it was only recently uncovered after Shannon found a large collection of her father’s handwritten notes.
