During a recent appearance at the 21st Busan International Film Festival, director Makoto Shinkai revealed that he would like to complete his next film within three years. He also stated that, like most of his recent work, the film will be a story about young teens struggling with adolescence.
Shinkai’s most recent work, ‘Your Name.’ was also screened at the festival with lead actors Mone Kamishiraishi and Ryunosuke Kamiki in attendance. The film has proved to be a huge success, earning 13.8 billion yen (about US$134 million) at the box office so far.
Strangely, ‘Your Name.’ is still yet to receive a widespread international release.
