‘The Monkey King: Reborn’ (西游记之再世妖王) is a 2021 Chinese animated fantasy action-adventure directed by Wang Yunfei.

Based on the works of Wu Cheng’en, the film finds the legendary Monkey King forced to do battle with the reincarnation of the original Demon King. The voice cast includes Bian Jiang, Zhang Lei, Cai Haiting, Su Shangqing, and Zhang He.

Synopsis: When the chaos began, the first demon came into the world, named Yuandi, and he was regarded as the original ancestor. Millions of years later, the former Monkey King, Sun Wukong was rescued by Tang Seng from the foot of the Five Elements Mountain. Wukong promised to protect Tang Seng and travel to the west to learn the scriptures. It was then that Yuandi reappeared, and the safety of the Three Realms was put at stake.
