Trailer: ‘Spring at Takano Tofu Shop’

‘Spring at Takano Tofu Shop’ (高野豆腐店の春) is a 2023 Japanese drama written and directed by Mitsuhiro Mihara.

The film revolves around the elderly owner of a tofu store who learns he is in poor health and is worried about his daughter being left alone after he passes. The cast includes Tatsuya Fuji, Kumiko Aso, Kumi Nakamura, Yu Tokui, and Masato Yamada.

Synopsis: Tatsuo (Tatsuya Fuji) and his daughter Haru (Kumiko Aso) run Takano Tofu Store in Onomichi. They begin their work before dawn every day, carefully selecting beans to make their tofu. While the days are peaceful, Tatsuo learns he is in poor health and worries about his daughter being alone after his death. With the help of some friends, he sets about planning a secret matchmaking strategy to find Haru a partner before the spring. 

‘Spring at Takano Tofu Shop’ opens across Japan on August 18, 2023.
