Two spooky Shaw Brothers titles on UK Blu-ray for Halloween

88 Films are releasing two spooktacular Shaw Brothers titles on UK Blu-ray just in time for Halloween.
Directed by the late, great Kuei Chih-Hung (‘Killer Snakes’), ‘Hex’ tells a weird and wonderful story of witchcraft and wanton revenge. A cruel, twisted husband (Wang Rong) has made life a living Hell for his sickly wife (Tien Ni), a habit that extends to new family servant Chan Si Kai, who’s initially brought on to help care for the wife, but grows to help her in another way entirely! The two conspire to murder the husband and dispose of his body, but what starts as a murder-revenge plot ultimately becomes a tale of the undead! Extras include an overview of the Shaw Brothers, Bey Logan on Hong Kong Movie language, and the original trailer.
One of the first horror shockers to be shot in the sun and cityscapes of Malaysia, ‘Black Magic’ is a sordid story of sex, sleaze, slime and spells – with an ancient magician able to bring lonely spinsters together with their ideal partners thanks to some good old fashioned witchery. Of course, this is not say such demonic antics do not sometimes go wrong and with ‘Black Magic’ viewers are exposed to some of the most sublime scares ever dreamed up by the Shaw studio. Extras include the original trailer and a collector’s booklet.
