Blu-ray release: ‘The Sea Is Watching’

Imprint Films are bringing the 2002 Japanese romance ‘The Sea Is Watching’ (海は見ていた) to Australian Blu-ray on March 27, 2024.
Directed by Kei Kumai and based on a screenplay by Akira Kurosawa, the film revolves around a young geisha who finds herself falling for a samurai after she helps him escape from his pursuers. The cast includes Misa Shimizu, Nagiko Tono, Masatoshi Nagase, Hidetaka Yoshioka, and Miho Tsumiki.
Synopsis: Set in a 19th-century brothel, a beautiful young geisha, O-shin, harbours a samurai seeking refuge. Falling in love with O-shin, the samurai hopes to cleanse her of the sins of her possession. But fate and fortune conspire to keep the lovers apart.
