‘The Lump in My Heart’ (あつい胸さわぎ) is a 2023 Japanese drama directed by Shingo Matsumura.

The film revolves around a young girl who struggles with the sudden discovery of juvenile breast cancer and her complicated relationship with her mother. The cast includes Mizuki Yoshida, Takako Tokiwa, Daiken Okudaira, Atsuko Maeda, and Himi Sato.

Synopsis: Chinatsu (Mizuki Yoshida) lives with her mother Akiko (Takako Tokiwa) in an old house in a port city. They live ordinary lives, but enjoy happy days. Chinatsu has been accepted to an arts university and this keeps her busy. She is currently having a hard time writing her first university paper, which is about memories of her first love. One day, Akiko finds a paper notice in her daughter Chinatsu’s room. The notice asks Chinatsu to come back for a reexamination of her breast cancer screening.
