Derek Tsang’s ‘Better Days’ Wins Big at the Hong Kong Film Awards

The winners of the 39th Hong Kong Film Awards were announced earlier today with a short online presentation by Chairman Derek Yee. There was no award ceremony this year due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

Derek Tsang Kwok-Cheung’s ‘Better Days’ is the big winner this year, taking home a total of 8 awards including Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actress (Zhou Dongyu), Best New Performer (Jackson Yee), Best Costume and Make Up Design, Best Cinematography and Best Original Film Song.

Donnie Yen’s ‘Ip Man 4’ came second with three awards including Best Action Choreography, Best Sound Design and Best Editing.

The other acting awards went to veteran actor Tai Bo (Best Actor – ‘Suk Suk’), Cheung Tat-Ming (Best Supporting Actor – ‘I’m Livin’ It’) and Patra Au Ka-Man (Best Supporting Actress – ‘Suk Suk’).
