Chow Yun Fat Attends 'The King's Feast'

 

Director Lu Chuan has confirmed that his epic war movie 'The King's Feast' (formerly 'Banquet At Hongmen') will start shooting this October. Based around the events of the legendary Feast at Hong Gate (206 BC), the film will star Chow Yun Fat as the peasant leader Liu Bang.

For those unfamiliar with Chinese history, the feast took place after the peasant uprising against the Qin Dynasty. Leader Liu Bang emerged as the man responsible for conquering the heartland of the Qin, angering fellow leader Xiang Yu who believed the victory was a prize reserved only for him. In an effort to be rid of his rival, Xiang organised a banquet with the intention of assassinating Liu, but his plan failed and two parties went to war.

With an estimated budget of 100 million yuan (around 15 million US dollars), the film is expected to include grand interpretations of the Battle of Gaixia and Battle of Weishui. Actors for the other historical characters in 'The King's Feast', like Xiang Yu, Han Xin, Zhang Liang and Yu Ji, will be unveiled shortly.
