No Yen Or Jaa For 'Sha Po Lang 2'

It has been confirmed that both Donnie Yen and Tony Jaa will not be starring in 'Sha Po Lang 2' (AKA 'SPL 2'). Jaa is busy shooting 'Fast & Furious 7' while Yen is currently prepping for 'Dragon City' and 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon 2'. However, Yen has stated that he may still take up a guest role.

It's not all doom and gloom for 'Sha Po Lang 2' though, as the production has now acquired a director in the form of Soi Cheang ('Motorway') and Wilson Yip ('Ip Man') will be serving as producer. The cast is also looking fairly solid with Sammo Hung, Wu Jing, Andy On, and Francis Ng all signed up to appear.

No confirmed details on plot yet but it is looking like the film will be some kind of prequel focusing around the gang boss played by Sammo Hung. If you're familiar with the ending for the original movie though, this probably isn't a huge surprise.

'Sha Po Lang 2' is scheduled to start shooting later this year.

Update: According to Twitch, Tony Jaa is still very much involved with the project and reports of his departure are incorrect.
