No one who claims to be a Hong Kong action cinema fan or a true Chan fan should be without a copy of this movie.

While ‘Fast Fingers’ may be seen as a combination of kung-fu and comedy, it is more memorable for being an amalgam of the sublime and the ridiculous.

This is not a comic masterpiece and doesn’t amuse in quite the manner that it imagines it does, but with a leading man of Fu Sheng’s calibre this is almost to be forgiven.

‘Lackey And The Lady Tiger’ is inoffensive genre fodder that is evidence that Mars is much more than just a stuntman.

‘Lion vs. Lion’ is so frustrating because when it’s good, it’s superb. Sadly the focus tends to be on the comedic aspects of the film which range from the amusing to the banal.

What this interesting little oddity lacks in thrills and spills it therefore makes up for in good ol’ 80s synth-pop, day-glo, bubble-permed fun.

It’s certainly not perfect and not among Jackie Chan’s best films, but there is ample entertainment value.

‘Snake In The Eagle’s Shadow’ gave Jackie his first chance to shine outside the reigns of Lo Wei, and under the expert guidance of Woo Ping and Ng See Yuen delivers a classic of the genre.

‘Flag Of Iron’ is a good film in nearly all of its departments and therefore earns a strong recommendation.
