‘Cold War’ is consistently entertaining and its massive success at the Hong Kong box-office shows that it clearly struck a chord with local audiences.

This isn’t the best ever Hong Kong movie – it isn’t even the best ever Hong Kong gambling movie – but it could have been much worse.

‘Crazy Lips’ exists as a curiosity piece for people who adore bizarro Japanese cinema infused with nonsensical plotting and an abundance of sleaze.

The finale offers a solid conclusion to a production that has promise but never quite delivers on it – ‘Crazy Nuts of Kung Fu’ is never really the kung-fu buddy film you hope it will be.

‘Kingdom of Storms’ certainly gives it a good go at adapting the ancient tale for the big screen even though it buckles slightly under its lofty ambitions and reliance on copious CGI. 

Herman Yau’s remake is, to be honest, unnecessary. It doesn’t add much to the source material and, when compared side-by-side, comes off poorly.

Despite its strengths and a bit of nostalgia for those of us who remember that early-90s aesthetic, ‘Crystal Fortune Run’ is less than the sum of its parts.

If you are a big Donnie fan, or loved ‘Tiger Cage’ and the ‘In The Line Of Duty’ films, then this will surely be a welcome addition to your collection.

If you give it a go it can be a rewarding and all together different movie viewing experience and shows the director is a gifted talent who can switch from gentle and beautiful to the dark and the violent with ease and skill.

‘Dance Of A Dream’ is an enjoyable, yet forgettable romantic comedy that is an amble display of the good and the bad of Andrew Lau as director.

A movie worth seeing if you need bringing down a peg or two, but not recommended for those with a depressive nature.

This Indonesian B-movie horror never quite lives up to its awesome high-concept but has enough going for it to make it a swift, slick shocker.
