A worthy addition to any avid kung fu fan’s DVD library as it hits all the right beats, benefits from some impressive photography and features some interesting, well staged and even downright barmy fighting styles.

‘Three’ could be the least involving, least exciting action thriller in recent memory. That it has Johnnie To behind it is a particularly sad thing to report.

‘Three Kingdoms: Resurrection Of The Dragon’ is a mixture of well shot conflict, stirring heroism and flawed drama.

While the makers were patting themselves on the back over the look of the film, they decided that any great set-pieces would dilute the view and ensured that none troubled the film.

While ‘Till the End of the World’ allows sentiment to become a little too exaggerated as the film nears its end it is, nevertheless, a mixture of the alienating and the intimate that works.

While ‘Time Raiders’ starts with competent special effects it descends to a level of incompetence that makes ‘Sharknado’ look cutting edge.

Xing Wenxiong’s delightful remake of ‘The Magic Hour’ retains the charm and wit of the original, but makes some key changes to improve it.

‘Tracing Shadow’ – though by no means as bad as that tirade – does fall foul of the flaws of the weaker films rather than embrace the qualities of the greats.

Fast and fun ensemble action flick puts some of the best fight stars front and centre for an action blast straight out of the 1990s.

Action fans in particular will find much to appreciate here, especially the chance to see the Drunken style so excellently represented on screen.

Hard to categorise, gorgeously shot and occasionally challenging in form, ‘Up The Mountain’ is quite unlike anything else.

The pacing is just right, the locations are skilfully used and Liu has taken a deceptively simple story and given it layers of interest beneath.
