Equal parts goofy, exciting and tedious, the flick works best when Li and his band of pint sized pugilists are kicking butt and performing amazing feats of acrobatics.

Its brave examination of a very powerful subject deserves commendation as does its unflinching view of the effects on the family of the victim.

‘Long Arm of the Law’ falls short of its reputation but still remains solid and compelling.

‘Nausicaa’ has its cake and eats it, being a pacifist’s warning about conflict and conservation while cramming in edge-of-the-seat thrills and excitement.

This is a rollicking action-adventure that is packed with top kung fu entertainment but because of a lack of depth misses out on a higher grade.

If you’re happy to laugh along with it then you’ll still find something to appreciate, but a kung fu classic this is not.

Although the plot may be somewhat lacking, ‘Ninja Vs. Shaolin Guards’ remains a very entertaining outing thanks to a wealth of well crafted kung fu fights.

‘Opium and the Kung Fu Master’ is top-notch old school action but it can’t quite get away from some things that used to mar such films.

‘Pom Pom’ is a typically enjoyable 80’s Hong Kong comedy that will definitely strike a chord with fans of the ‘Lucky Stars’.

A film that gives the viewer the experience of rolling down a hill in a barrel full of dirty razor blades without having to leave one’s home.

‘Shanghai Blues’ is, overall, superior entertainment, but by the time the end credits roll its hard not to think of what might have been.

Fantastical ingenuity, crazy comedy, outlandish practical effects, and hard-hitting martial arts are thrown together in perhaps one of the best zany action flicks to come from the Golden Era 80s.
