‘Triangle’ is a tense ride, an interesting character piece, oozes style and features a breathless and exhilarating last act making it an interesting and always entertaining experiment from directors Hark, Lam and To.

Of course this wouldn’t be a Wong Jing film if some of the jokes weren’t bordering on tasteless and there are a couple that stretch the imagination, but thankfully they do little to deviate from the film’s general fun and frivolity.

Though there is talent behind the lens and in front of it, this is a run-of-the-mill swordplay film with a wasted gimmick.

There’s enough spooky set-pieces, riotous comedy and bare flesh on show to keep even the most mercurial of Hong Kong genre fans entertained.

There is actually some entertainment to be derived from ‘Truant Hero’ and it exists on its own strengths rather than being completely reliant on its influences.

Despite the clichés, ‘True Love’ still retains a strong entertainment value though. The ending is also powerful enough to make sure that it is not easily forgotten.

It’s difficult to avoid over-gushing praise, but this is a sweet, enchanting romantic comedy that has enough moments of genuine empathy to fill a dozen lesser films.

Perhaps the greatest flaw found within this well-made, yet uninspiring swordplay film is its reliance on theatrical melodrama rather than tension or real emotion.

Arriving with a heft of rightly earned hype, ‘Walled In’ is an often epic, brutal, and thoroughly entertaining throwback to 80s Hong Kong style cinema.

In truth, this is not a great movie, with nothing new added to the age old “separated brothers” story and some bad special effects.

As with the rest of the series, the comedy in ‘Twinkle Twinkle Lucky Stars’ may not appeal to everyone but there’s certainly enough action on display to entertain any fan of Hong Kong cinema.

‘Twins Mission’ is a messy affair with a few bright spots to help the 90 minute running time ease past.
