‘The Order’ is a welcome step backwards for Van Damme that will undoubtedly prove popular with fans of his earlier outings.

The film is littered with great fights, and sees Yukari at her lethal best stealing the show in the lengthy final reel.

While not offering the very finest of Sammo’s work, ‘The Owl Vs Bombo’ is an entertaining and worthwhile slice of 80’s Hong Kong cinema.

Funny, touching and with kick ass action ‘The Paper Tigers’ is a gem and should be sought out by all fight film fans.

‘The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure’ is a big, unapologetic action film that borrows all of the pomp and bombast of its American contemporaries.

Whilst fans of the Shaw Brothers back catalogue will definitely find ‘The Postman Fights Back’ comfortable viewing, there is still enough fresh material and wackiness here to make the film worth watching.

Once the hunt begins the film unfortunately doesn’t bring the momentum the concept needs and clogs the narrative with various confusing subplots and too much focus on the bad guys.

Essentially the story of a princess locked in a tower by an evil wannabe ruler, the flick gets down to brass tacks right out the gate: fast and furious fight action.

‘The Princess Blade’ is a very average affair that is lifted by some standout moments of action and a strong leading performance from Yumiko Shaku.

This film is a true classic, outdoing other period pieces ‘Drunken Master’ and ‘Once Upon a Time in China’. Go get it!

It will lose most of it’s audience by the 20 minute mark and even those that do manage to stay engaged past that point will likely be sleeping by the time our heroes ‘Fly away into the sunset’.

The Hong Kong version features watchable new action that is worth tracking down for Chan purists, but as a whole, the film remains on Chan’s ‘avoid list’.
