Featuring a number of laugh-out-loud moments that undoubtedly transcend traditional language barriers, this is a heart-warming production that squeezes every last drop of entertainment value from its concept.

Witty, moving and, most important of all considering its intentions, scathing without jaundiced polemic, this is a remarkable film.

Not quite knowing whether it is a comedy, action film or thriller, ‘What A Hero!’ manages to put in so many elements without ever succeeding in any of them.

The casting of Andy Lau and Gong Li – and the inclusion of a somewhat wasted Russell Wong – added to a plush Beijing setting might make this a more appealing watch than first thought.

‘Whatever Will Be, Will Be’ is an unusual film to recommend as it is so anchored to convention that it initially seems to have little to differentiate it from the many other similarly themed films.

Jackie has never looked better in a one-on-one fight, and while the story is barely memorable, it is still another excellent addition to Hung’s filmmaking resume.

Although this film is not his very best, it is still worth watching for Hong Kong newcomers and is a definite recommendation for Chow completists.

This is an above par HK action comedy and would please all fans of the genre – especially fans of Sammo like myself.

‘Who Am I?’ may not be the ‘Drunken Master 2’ successor that many fans are searching for (in vain), but it does still contain plenty of top notch action and enough enjoyable Chan-isms to make it well worth a watch.

It may have weaknesses that wreak of uneven handling by the director, but its two main cast members courageously battle through such obstacles and help this topsy-turvy film achieve a certain charisma.

A few moments allow you to think you’re watching a better film than you actually are and Jingle Ma utilises his former skills as a choreographer to make Beijing look as splendid as possible.

Melodramatic, beautiful, witty, hilarious, tragic, heavy-handed, overlong… ‘Windstruck’ is an enjoyable enigma that has enough virtues to make even a stoic critic a little more forgiving.
