The action and the winning persona of the lead are reasons to give this four stars, but the obvious deficiencies means it’s only a three.

Not a waste of time by any means, and certainly a nice addition to the main stars filmographies, however, it is certainly not up to the standard of its ground breaking prequel.

It never quite capitalises on a spirited beginning, eventually becoming more of a leaden-footed drama than a blood and thunder action flick.

While proceedings do get a little dry and flat on occasion, for the most part this version of ‘Mulan’ is a well-made and entertaining epic that never resorts to heavy-handed storytelling.

This may not be revolutionary film-making, but ‘My Best Friend’s Wedding’ is ninety minutes of entertainment that will keep a smile on your face.

It’s more than acceptable to use two hours to tell a rom-com if there’s enough plot to go around, but ‘My Girlfriend Is An Agent’ is another Korean film that uses flimsy material to achieve its goal.

‘My Hero’ is unlikely to blow you away, but it’s still a decent 90’s gangster flick that benefits from Chow’s inclusion.

While the animation and action are definitely well handled, the numerous anime movie clichés prevent it from ever progressing beyond anything other than filler.

For everyone looking for a fight-filled evening’s entertainment, ‘My Life’s On The Line’ will satisfy even the most jaded viewer.

If only Vincent Kok had nurtured the early comedy of ‘My Lucky Star’ and allowed the two stars to develop their love, this could have been above the norm.

‘My School Mate, the Barbarian’ is an unusual film that centres on a world of youths that rarely touches that of the adult realm. If the viewer can get used to this, they should enjoy the rest of the duration.

‘My Wife Is A Gangster’ is a fun film with some fine elements. It’s just a shame that the whole is not quite as good as the sum of its parts.
