If any viewer has been brought up on the Hong Kong musicals that Jeff Lau’s work alludes to, this will be highly recommended.

Hui delivers an always watchable and occasionally hilarious production that works on a number of different levels.

Not that ‘Heart Against Hearts’ doesn’t have its moments, but it certainly never develops the story beyond typical moments of Hong Kong farce.

Clifton Ko has been behind the lens for quite a few of these family comedies though the box-office hit ‘It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad World’ is one of his best efforts.

‘Legacy of Rage’ may not even be in the same category as ‘A Better Tomorrow’, but it makes for relatively pleasing pop entertainment.

This is a worthy purchase for fans of the genre, and the minimal action is well handled and true to the spirit of the genre.

Despite its finale, ‘Police Story 2’ is worthy edition to any JC collection, and another example of how Hollywood action is made to look pathetic in comparison.

With this fourth part the formula remains in place and the whole production has the very comfortable feeling of familiarity to it.

A simple and fast moving story about a tough female cops, is told with style, if not great direction, by Yuen Kwai.

The cast is packed with the usual gallery of stars that one associates with a Sammo production and of course the action (when it happens) is expertly choreographed by the man himself.

What makes ‘Gambling Ghost’ an above-average feature is undoubtedly the superb performance by the film’s main star.

It’s amazingly stylish with a brilliantly constructed story and some superb shoot-outs. If you call yourself an action movie fan then this one is going to be right up your alley!
