‘The Butcher, the Chef & the Swordsman’ may be an uneven yoking of brilliance and banality, but it is so heavily stacked in favour of the former that this still proves to be a film of great interest.

If you enjoy a cheesy slice of American comedy that features fast cars and some top talent, then it’s guaranteed to please.

The term ‘low-key’ was perhaps invented for this enjoyable and slightly off-beat comedy/thriller.

‘The Cavalier’ is a below par effort from Joseph Kuo, a director who should know better.

With ‘The Conmen In Vegas’, Wong Jing takes the best approach that we could have hoped for – one in which he has little aspiration to achieve heights that we all know he isn’t capable of.

The Hui brothers combine efforts to create another outstanding piece of canto-comedy that mixes clever satire of the entertainment industry and slapstick comedy.

It was a big box office hit on its release, features Chingmy Yau looking adorable and has some decent chemistry between the cast, but that’s not enough to drag the viewer through the ninety-minute running time.

All in all, another quality Sammo production that deserves a wider audience.
