‘Speed Dating’ is a fast and funny short blast of action-comedy that nicely sets proceedings up for a potential full-length feature – which would be very welcome.

While far from perfect and lacking the polish that was applied to Chan’s later vehicles, ‘Spiritual Kung Fu’ is still a solid effort that has a distinctly old-school charm.

It would take something quite exceptional to take such cliched elements and make them stand out from the crowd and while it’s an enjoyable feel-good film it’s not the kind of the production that leaves much of a lasting impression.

‘Spy Girl’ is broad, then at times subtle while also throwing together slapstick and satire in an interesting blend.

This leans more towards the quick-cut close ups of more recent Hollywood efforts. Most of the fights are also glossed over as short “highlights” rather than letting us see the full action.

To say ‘Suicide Club’ is a trip, is an understatement. It’s been a while since I‘ve watched a film that has equally repulsed and mesmerized me.

Ultimately viewer satisfaction with ‘Summons to Death’ will arguably be measured by one’s affinity for both the Sean Connery-period Bond films or sixties era sensibilities and filmmaking stylings.

‘Super Model’ is, for the majority, a superior comedy that bursts forth with copious amounts of energy and imagination.

It doesn’t deliver as much as it promises and doesn’t quite hit the mark as a complete unit due to a less cohesive second half and not enough time spent establishing Dong-Jin’s character.

‘Table For Six’ blends wit with appealing characters, and the dynamic between the sextet is a real strength for the film.

There are some excellent action scenes here and though the choreography gets a little too familiar, it does throw in a few unusual moves.

‘Tai Chi II’ features an average plot and some unnecessary over-the-top moments, but is a decent effort that usually earns little attention from Hong Kong film fans.
